Bonnie,

I use 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, but I don't boil it.  Once it's in the 
hummingbird
feeder, it lasts anywhere from 4 days to a week, depending on the temperature
outdoors.  I don't store any in the refrigerator, so I can't help you there.
