Frank,
I enjoyed your post on the birds at the pond.
I had 2 Horned Larks standing on the tarmac
at Rough River State Park, by the airport building, a little after 6 AM
yesterday morning, July 2.
Due to the heat I'm walking early these days. Joyce Porter

A pair of Killdeer have managed to hatch a chick somewhere nearby and lead
it to the backfield pond, where it runs up and down the shore to avoid
being trampled by the cattle wading in and out of the water. Yesterday
afternoon a Cattle Egret and a Great Blue Heron were with this group until
our approach.
