Kayaking Blood River and Jonathan Creek yesterday:
Jonathan Creek: Adult Yellow-crowned night heron and juvenile
Cliff swallows in their mud jugs under the
bridge on #80
A family of Wood ducks, the young ones
squealing and flapping on top of the water ahead of my boat.
Blood River: Two Little Blue Herons
Green-back Heron
One Lesser Scaup that can't fly
Most numerous were White-eyed Vireos, Gnatcatchers, Indigo Buntings, N.
Parulas, and Yellow-billed Cuckoos. It seems that there are less Red-eyed
Vireos. I have no data to prove that but are they decreasing in
numbers? Not as many Prothonatary warblers either; however, I think their
nests got washed away in the high water.
