On July 6, 2002, Amy Covert and I noted that the Barkley Dam pair of flycats
have a nest on the tallest powerline tower below the east side of the dam.
It is the tall one by the restrooms.  The nest is AT LEAST 100 feet above
the ground, on a corner crossbar.  From the actions of the pair, I think the
birds are still incubating eggs; I might say they were just brooding small
young, but they currently appear to NOT be taking food up to the nest, but
one is usually sitting on it.  

The presence of this pair just now in the midst of nesting makes one wonder
if this male could be the second that was seen on several occasions along KY
453, which is JUST two miles away as the flycatchers fly!  Interestingly,
THIS nest is in another county, Lyon, however!

Jackie noted watching the birds hawking insects from the tall tower, but the
birds also use the small trees next to the road below the dam.  This
behavior makes for especially good viewing of the foraging birds, something
that wasn't as easy over on KY 453 :o)
