[birdky] Summer tanagers

Hi Evelyn,
Sorry to respond to this thread a bit late, but I have seen quite a few
summer tanagers this summer out at the Blue Grass Army Depot. It seems to be
really good habitat for them there. If you only birded out at the BGAD, you
would have a really skewed idea about what birds are common, because pretty
much on a daily basis I see things like the summer tanagers as well as bobwhite
quail, yellow-billed cuckoos, and red-headed woodpeckers...
I do think, though, that with the late frost and now the drought, that this
year is a bit of a weird one for many species, not just birds but amphibians,
insects, etc.
Best,
Christine Lattin

I have not seen a Summer Tanager all summer. Has anyone else noticed a
lack of Summer Tanagers? We did have some logging very close to our
home, but haven't seen any, even on my BBS routes. I have seen quite
a few Scarlet Tanagers.
