[birdky] BKY: Jonathan Creek paddling

Highlights of a morning kayaking on Jonathan Creek (back creeks) were:
Approximately 100 cliff swallows frantically feeding their young under this
short bridge. The parent seems to know which little mud hole their offspring
is despite the crowded conditions.
Two yellow-crowned night herons.
Only one snake!!
And a possible Swainson's warbler calling. It came from the thick canes on the
bank of the creek. It called for about three minutes and then stopped. I
could not see it. I saw and heard two L. waterthrush, but this song lacked
the chattered ending that the L. waterthrush sings. It was more concise. Later
I heard it calling twice.
A Swainson's warbler would be a lifer for me, and I have listened to its
recorded voice repeatedly. But do I have the confidence to call this one my
lifer? As I cut down the rest of the jug lines that fishermen leave along the
banks that eventually entrap birds and reptiles, I remembered the many worm
eating warblers that I heard and later turned out to be chipping sparrows. I
decided I best not mark this Swainson's in my life list.
Still wondering,
