Les and I took lunch and went to a very high and remote mountain ridge
on this VERY beautiful day. A wonderful breeze blew across the
mountaintop and we could see forever through the blank spaces in the
trees, into Pike County on one side of the ridge and into Martin County
on the other side. We were very thrilled to hear and see MANY, MANY
CERULAN WARBLERS!! So far we have not heard/seen them in Happy Valley
this season. We also saw/heard: HOODED WARBLERS (many), AMERIUCAN
REDSTARTS, WORM-EATING WARBLER, YB CHATS (zillions), BLACK AND WHITE
WARBLERS, WILD TURKEYS, INDIGO BUNTINGS, WE VIREO, BH VIREO, ROUGH
WINGED WARBLERS, WOODTHRUSH, BLUEBIRDS, TOWHEES, and CHIMNEY SWIFTS (at
the high elevation!). There were a few warblers which we could not
identify by voice or appearance. A few of the birds were seen at lower
elevations.
 
Here's to everyone enjoying the next few days of lower temperatures and
humidity. Oh, we heard some BARRED OWLS "carrying on" up in the woods
above the house while we were eating supper on the patio.
