What looked like a male Baltimore Oriole flew in front of my car at
Pirate's Cove (Jonathan Creek-Ky. Lake) on June 10. It had the usual
black throat with the black extended into a point at the breast, but
instead of a black crown there were streaks of yellow. I also saw a yellow
wing bar. The best I can figure is that it is a Bullock's Baltimore hybrid
male. (Sibley's p. 518) Tried to relocate it today but had no luck. I got
infatuated with a little brown bat that was swaying on the back of a
sycamore leaf high in the tree. It woke up enough to scratch itself but
decided it was too early and dropped back into a lullaby of wind and waves.
