[birdky] KY Live Cam Update

Lots of action can currently be viewed at our KY Internet bird nesting live
cams.

Our two on camera Lake Barkley Osprey chicks are being fed a lot of fish and
are growing very fast. Note the white stripe down the center of each chick's
back, no doubt an effective camo helping to visually blend the chicks into the
surrounding nest sticks.

The Caldwell Co. Bluebird cam nest has a second nesting in progress with a 3rd
egg likely arriving today. Heath Elementary at Paducah has a third on camera
Bluebird nesting in progress with a second egg to arrive soon. Look for a new
Bluebird egg each day until the clutches are complete.

New real time images can be seen about every 30 seconds during daylight hours.
For larger images select the nest of your choice from the left side of the page
at the main Cornell nest page and to view the following features: One of the
best images from each day is saved by Cornell with staff comments and is posted
with each active nest. Guests viewing the nests can now ask questions and
receive answers from our KY hosts. A direct link to the nests is available
from the KEEP web page at: http://www.biology.eku.edu/KEEP.html and from the
Kentucky Bluebird Society web page http://www.biology.eku.edu/kybluebirds.html

The two teachers hosting the above cams have earned "Teacher of the Year"
honors at their respective elementary schools since beginning these projects
which likely contributed to their selection. We now have 20 schools with nest
box cameras which include real time images (no freeze frame) and sound. 40 of
our schools are now managing Bluebird "trails" as part of their life science
studies. Five free NABS approved KBS Bluebird boxes are available for all KY
schools wishing to participate.
