The Bobwhites have fared well here this year, even though I ran over at least
two nests with eggs a few weeks ago. Yesterday I flushed 10 young quails while
cutting a red clover field for the 2nd time. Later in the day, and on the
opposite side of the farm, we flushed around 30 young quails in fence row.
There were no Dickcissels here at the beginning of the nesting season but
there are at least 2 pairs of Dickcissels here now, refugees no doubt of
someone else's mowing.
The 5 little Tufted Titmice left the nest yesterday.
