There were millions (billions?) of them in my neck of the woods.  The noise 
was deafening and the smell overpowering.  An amazing experience.

I read about the big outbreak of cicadas we were supposed to have this year 
. . . . . . where were they? I've heard a few, but not many. Did anyone else 
get them in numbers?
Bird notes:
I did the S Tree bird survey in Jackson County on June 10 (species with 
highest count:)
24 Stops
Ovenbird 39
Red-eyed Vireo 36
Hooded Warbler 20
Wood Thrush 18
Eastern Wood-Pewee 18

Species with only 1 bird recorded:
Eastern Phobe
European Starling
Blue-winged Warbler
Cerulean Warbler
Kentucky Warbler
Summer Tanager
Total species 41

Hustonville BBS Lincoln/Casey Counties June 13 highest count:
50 Stops
Common Grackle 73
European Starling 66
American Robin 59
Mourning Dove 47
Song Sparrow 40

Species with only 1 bird recorded:
Cooper's Hawk
Belted Kingfisher
Pileated Woodpecker
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
House Wren
Warbling Vireo
Hooded Warbler
Baltimore Oriole
Total species 66
