    House Finches seem to have a predilection for
nesting in hanging baskets.  The first House Finches I
ever saw in Indiana were nesting in a hanging basket.
My next door neighbor has them every year in his 
baskets.  It doesn't seem to matter what is being 
grown, they just seem to like them.  I suppose they
would make a pretty safe place to avoid predators.
