Audubon Society of Kentucky spent a blissful weekend at Carter Cave. About thirty birders from Lexington, Georgetown and Carlisle saw and heard all
they hoped for and more. The cloudy Friday didn?t spoil the potluck and the Saturday morning trek through the park. Saturday afternoon was slower but nice as we gazed at both Waterthrush and yellow lady?s slipper along the creek, and the Derby party produced two wonderful winners (of the pool). Sunday morning found us spread across the park meeting at 10:30 for a cave walk and one more hike to Box Canyon. The leaves were small and did not cover the trees completely and most of us were able to see the birds as well as study their song. We hope to welcome all Bluegrass birders next time at Pine Mountain especially the UK grads. This is what we saw.
