Went to Swan Lake this morning on a tip from Brainard. A good variety of
shorebirds were in the fields just South of the lake. After a couple hours
there I headed to Mitchell. By the time I arrived the sun had come out and the
wind had shifted from the south and was blowing hard. Apparently many of the
birds that were there yesterday picked up and moved on. There were no birds on
the sandbar that is just forming at the levee. The only birds at Mitchell were
at the duck trap station and were largely Lesser Yellowlegs with 1 SH-b
dowitcher. There were a few common species at Cook Slough. Highlights include
