Some of you know Louisville birder, Matt Stickel. Matt is a good birder,
but a bit shy about posting :o)

Yesterday evening he had a nice array of gulls at the Falls of the Ohio
including 3 adult Laughing Gulls, up to 20 Bonaparte's, a dozen or so
Herrings and some Ringers. Also present were 6 Caspian Terns.

I went by this morning and had only 13 Herring Gulls and about a similar
number of Ringers with 1 Caspian Tern. Scattered Spotted Sandpipers were
the only shorebirds.

The rocks are exposed now again at the Falls and if we don't get too
much rain and the Peregrines don't cause too much disruption over the
next couple of weeks, some nice birds will likely drop in for rests on
their way north.

Several Beckham Bird Club members have been keeping an eye on the Melco
flood retention basin lately. We've had 14 species of shorebirds so far
this season including a Piping Plover last Friday afternoon. I also had
a single Long-billed Dowitcher a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise, it has
been mostly common shorebirds, but in decent numbers some days.
