Fulton Co (just north of Long Point)
I was just passing through on the north end of Reelfoot to get to the Phillipy
area, but found a nice concentration of Semipalmated Plovers. This is in a
flooded duck hunting field just east of the entrance to Long Point. I was in
this same area last Friday, and found 68 Semipalmeted Plovers, and a
Short-billed Dowitcher, among the Pecs, Least, and Yellowlegs. This time,
numbers had grown to 86 Semipalmated's (with more hiding in the weeds I'm
sure). I had Semi's most places I stopped, but not in numbers like this area.
Also in KY were a singing Marsh Wren, and a couple of Lincoln's Sparrows that
popped-up for me.
While the Ruff couldn't be refound yesterday in TN (last seen on Tuesday), I
did have good numbers of White-rumped Sandpipers for this early in May (15), a
group of 6 Black-bellied Plovers that a storm put down, 13 Wilson's Phalaropes,
and numerous Dowitchers (mostly Long-billed, but a couple of Short-bills as
well).
I've posted several shots from the day (Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Lincoln's
Sparrow, Dowitchers, White-rumps, Phalaropes, etc) in my Spring 2007 gallery.
If interested, the images start here:http://www.pbase.com/mctodd/image/78158131

Good Birding!!
