Some one had mentioned Goose Creek the other day and how active it was.
Goose Creek goes through our back yard and is still very active. I'm new to
birding so I can't identify a lot of the birds yet but with my handy dandy
bird books, I'm getting better. Our regulars include 2 red shouldered hawks,
another large mostly black hawk I have not been able to identify yet, 2 new
Great Horned owls, a Blue Heron, Juncos, Red Bellied Woodpeckers,(who are
the only ones that are successful at chasing off the grackles (sp?) and the
mocking bird who thinks my birdfeeders are his alone) finches, warblers,
Chickadees, Nuthatches, Wrens, tons of Downys and Hairys, Pileated
Woodpecker, a fox and 5 raccoons who steal my woodpecker feeders regularly. 

Down at Nolin Lake we have 5 Red Headed Woodpeckers who are a joy to watch.
Up until last weekend, they have never visited my feeders. I was finally
able to identify one of multiple little birds that soar all around the
docks. They are Tree Swallows. Their iridescent blue-green color is just
beautiful.  I just bought a real good camera with a 12x zoom so hopefully I
can get some good pictures.
