This morning I was birding in Joe Creason Park (Jefferson Co) and found a Connecticut Warbler around 9:15 AM. The bird was singing off and on until I left the area around 11 AM. If you pull into the parking area for the Nature Center off Trevelian Way and walk east out of the lot you will see a small amphitheater with some wooden benches on the side of a grassy hill. A trail leads out of the amphitheater (white blazes) and heads into the wooded area. When you reach the second small wooden bridge start listening for the bird. This is where it was located. If you pass the bird blind building on your excursion, you are going in the wrong direction although this is also the white trail and will eventually loop all the way back to the Nature Center.
This evening I was walking my dog in Cherokee Park and found an Olive-sided Flycatcher sitting at the top of a small Sycamore that had many dead branches up high with no vegetation. As Olive-sided's like to do, it was sitting right out in the open but not siging. The bird was on the trail that is between Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary and Beargrass Creek. There is a small wetland area in the vicinity.
