Monday about 6:00 p.m. I was working in the yard and discovered a bird intently 
watching me from about 10 feet away.  It was a yellow bird a little smaller 
looking than a cardinal with a crest.  My first thought was great crested fly 
catcher because I had seen a pair in the yard earlier, but I immediately 
realized the color was wrong.  I had to go to the Sibley book for the reference 
that summer tanagers can raise a crest.   I've never seen that pictured 
anywhere.  This was my first female summer tanager in my yard list.  It's 
always a hoot to realize the birds people watch too.
