The transient lakes of Warren County have been up and
down all spring, and McElroy is dry again except for
the ditch and 2 small puddles.  

A brief check of McElroy yesterday turned up a
Black-bellied Plover and about 30 Semipalmated
Sandpipers.  A Sandhill Crane with a broken right wing
was walking northward across the field, apparently
attempting to migrate on foot.  A resident of the area
who lives south of McElroy said it was seen 2-3 hours
earlier walking along the edge of their back yard.

The strong southerly breeze brought in a nice bunch of
Wind Birds this morning which Nicole Ranalli and I
counted while conducting a shorebird survey.  Present
were:

Semipalmated Plover  90+
Black-bellied Plover  15 stopped for about 45 minutes
Semipalmated Sandpiper  200+  
White-rumped Sandpiper  5
Dunlin  4

A late Savannah Sparrow was also present today.

Walton's Pond hosted 5 Semipalmated Plovers, 5
Semipalmated Sandpipers, 3 Least Sandpipers, 6 Spotted
Sandpipers, and a Dunlin today.
