The family took a short Mother's Day birding walk around Minor Clarke
Fish Hatchery in Morehead on Sunday.
The one notable bird was a white crowned sparrow by the oxbow. 

Hadn't seen one in quite awhile and it gave me a nice look before
dropping down in the brush.

 

A yellow billed cuckoo made a nice show for us and a small group of
shorebirds flew in formation around the ponds. We never got a chance to
see them on the ground. 

 

My one and a half year old daughter enjoyed the birding trip, watching
the ducks and geese, but probably had more fun carrying around a small,
dead, green frog she found along the road.
