I have been noticing a pair of Chickadees hanging around the corral by the barn 
for some while. There are no nearby trees or bird boxes so it seemed an odd 
place for them to be. Today I decided to check all the posts, though I didn't 
think there were any hollow ones. There were 2. I looked in the first one and 
didn't see anything. The second one was a light pole that had been sawed off a 
little above eye level. I reached my hand on top of it to see if it was hollow. 
It was, and it was a good thing it was too tall for me to peep in because as 
soon as I stuck my fingers in the hollow, out popped a Chickadee. This post is 
just a few feet from the salt feeder that nearly all the cows visit every day 
and a couple of hundred feet from the nearest tree.
