[birdky] Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Had a beautiful male Rose-breasted Grosbeak in the yard early this morning.
I report this mainly because it is only the second one I've seen locally
this spring. My, what a treat!
I also saw a Great Blue Heron catch and reject a snake today. I'm curious
as to why he tossed it back. It wasn't a very large snake, perhaps 18"
long. It had been swimming before the heron nabbed it. Then it swam away
when it hit the water on release; the heron watched it go and then
continued stalking fish. I was not close enough to see what kind of snake
it was.
