[birdky] Calloway County Spring Count

Nine birders participated in this years annual Calloway County Spring Bird
Count on May 3rd. Our preliminary tally is 139 species. Highlights include
250+ DC Cormorants at their nest spot along with four pairs of Osprey. Four
species of owls, 6 species of vireo and 28 species of warbler including 2
Swainson's.
The disappointment for the day was few shorebirds due to lack of habitat.
These birds would be here if there was anyplace for them to feed. Henslow's
sparrows were also missed.
