[birdky] hit and missed photo-ops

Last Sunday, soon after checking a nearby Red-tailed Hawk nest, I startled a
dark moth-like bird from a small Beech tree. I thought at the time that it must
have been a Whip-poor-will or Chuck-Will's-widow. Today Alison went with me to
check the hawk nest. Two chicks bobbed their heads up long enough for several
pictures. As we walked a little further on and passed the small Beech tree, I
stopped with the intention of telling Alison about last week's Whip-poor-will
sighting there. But the moment I stopped and looked toward the tree, last
week's Whip-poor-will was looking back at me and it wasn't a Whip-poor-will at
all. It was a gray phase Screech Owl. We made eye contact at a distance of
about 8 feet for about a second then off it flew, from the very same spot as
last week. Next week I will be looking at that tree very carefully before we
get close to it.
