Misc notes: what an exciting day! A White Ibis, 40 American Avocets, and a
Painted Bunting. Wish I could have seen them all!

The male Painted Bunting in western Fulton Co. appears to be "on
territory", hoping to attract a mate, so it is relatively easy to find. I
might be so bold as to suggest that folks refrain from attempting to use
tapes as it appears the bird is going to be around, or it will have moved.
Both yesterday evening and all of this morning, it could be found within a
few minutes of waiting and listening and watching for it to appear on a
conspicuous perch along the utility wires and line of small trees and brush
at the NW corner of the Long Point Unit of Reelfoot NWR as previously
described.

Otherwise, if you want to experience warbler migraiton, Land Between the
Lakes is getting great again this spring. Numerous moth larvae
(caterpillars) are chewing away on trees, mostly along ridges, in LBL, and
Mark Monroe and I had THIRTY spp of warblers in about 3 hours yesterday
morning. It was GREAT and quite unexpected for 30 April. Highlights were
multiple Cape May, Bay-breasted, Chestnut-sided, single American Redstart,
Golden-winged, and Wilson's (latter early), and many Tennessees, Nashvilles
and Black-throated Greens.

Our shorebird highlight for today was a single Willet at Ky Dam Village beach.
