The following are a few highlights from an afternoon walk through Middle Creek
Park in Boone County on May 25, 2002:
Yellow-billed Cuckoo (1), Acadian Flycatcher (7), Wood Thrush (5) and 1 nest
with 1 Wood Thrush egg, 2 Brown-headed Cowbird eggs, and 1 broken Wood Thrush
egg on the ground nearby, Cedar Waxwing (20), Yellow-throated Vireo (2),
Red-eyed Vireo (8), Blue-winged Warbler (1), Northern Parula (3), Cerulean
Warbler (4), Ovenbird (6), Louisiana Waterthrush (1), Kentucky Warbler (2),
Hooded Warbler (1), Scarlet Tanager (4), and Baltimore Oriole (1).
An active colony of Bank Swallows with 50+ nests may be seen at a gravel pit
along KY 20 near Petersburg, Kentucky.
