McElroy Lake continues to rise which is reducing
shorebird habitat right now. As soon as it begins
receding again habitat will improve. The number of
birds was down noticeably this afternoon with the
following species present:

Black-bellied Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Greater Yellowlegs
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
White-rumped Sandpiper
Stilt Sandpiper

I didn't see the Red-necked Phalarope today, and may
have watched it leave yesterday afternoon. A Peregrine
Falcon flushed the birds and I watched the phalarope
through my binocular until it was no longer in sight.
It flew in a southeasterly direction ascending the
entire time.

Other birds of interest today:

Muhlenburg County (Peabody)

Olive-sided Flycatcher
I watched this bird sing its "quick three beers"
twice.

Henslow's Sparrow
Willow Flycatcher
Bell's Vireo
Great Egret (8) near the ash basin
Double-crested Cormorant approx. 20
Common Tern
Norther Harrier

And a female Redhead on an impoundment near the ash
basin. I watched this bird fly and it appeared
uninjured.

Also 4-5 active Great Blue Heron nests.

WKU woods in Warren County:

Chestnut-sided Warbler
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher

My back yard in Warren County:

Mourning Warbler (3) 2 males and a female
Magnolia Warbler
Black and White Warbler
Swainson's Thrush

It was a beatiful day to be out,

Dave
