May 9 Central Kentucky Wildlife Refuge

Female Blue Grosbeak ( bird blind)

Indigo Bunting ( singing and heard all over)

Yellow Breasted Chat ( in tree tops above blind)

Downey Woodpecker ( poking it's head out of a nesting cavity)

Eastern Kingbird

Eastern Bluebird ( bringing worms to nest box)

May 10 Dix Dam.

On a float out in the middle of Ash Pond. We saw what I think was an Anhinga. I
have seen Cormorants alot on the Beaver and Ohio rivers in PA and this bird
really didn't look like a Cormorant ( the head was alot thinner). It was easily
seen while on the floats but once it hit the water it seemed to vanish. Are
Anhinga common to this area or somewhat common?

In all fairness there was alot of distortion coming off the pond through the
spotting scope. I plan on going back up Sat. morning to take a look and see if
it is still there.

Other birds of intrest were..

Green Heron ( back side of the pond)

Pectoral Sandpiper ( back side of the pond)

Mallards ( coming and going the whole time we where there)

Killdeer

Canada Goose

Turkey Vulture

Black Vulture

Mockingbird ( going through a range of songs )

Red wing Blackbirds

Song Sparrow

Thanks to everyone who pointed Ash Pond out to me. I look forward to checking
out this spot alot more.

Take care,

Ed Richards

Junction City ( Boyle County)
