Thanks to Hap's excellent directions, we saw that Eagle's Nest  today on our 
way home from Murray. Could see a white head sticking out and that is all, no 
movement.  We also saw many white pelicans, the water was up so much, no sand 
bars. They were scattered below both dams, counted a couple of hundred at KY 
dam, but we saw more than that at Barkley Dam. There were about 50 clustered in 
the water right up against the Dam building there, but the rest were downstream.

My husband wants to know what that growth is on some of the pelicans' beaks...

We stopped at various spots along the lake and spotted two eagles perched in 
trees across from KY Dam Village marina and many American Coots, grazing next 
to the water's edge on the road. There over a dozen great blue herons below KY 
Dam. Is there a rookery nearby?  Quite a few egrets in a marsh land past 
Barkley Dam, but we were in car and no where to stop. 

An enjoyable weekend in Murray, highlighted by our quickie, side trip birding 
experience.

  The Bald Eagles that are nesting about .5 mile east of Barkley Dam are 
feeding young.  I could not see them well enough to tell how many were in the 
nest.

  The water below the dam is the highest it has been and covers a portion of 
the roadway along the eastern edge. The number of  White Pelicans in this area 
are down to less than a hundred from a high of over 600 just a few days ago.
