Rhonda and I set out to check on the Robertson county rookery on the
Licking River. We had never been on the river this early and found our
view much less obstructed without the leaves or weeds on the bank. The
Rookery had 7 active nest and an eighth active nest some 300-400 yards
down stream. Near the end of the journey yet another nest in Harrison
County was found just opposite the mouth of cedar creek. In addition, my
sister Julie and her husband Jim found a rookery in Kenton county 300
yards north (down stream) of the hgwy 536 bridge on the Licking River.
There were 10-12 nests with a single nest a bit further down stream. I
do not know if it is visible from the bridge. 

Our approximately 12 mile trip down the river included

SCARLET TANAGER
GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER
CATBIRD
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW
RED-EYED, WHITE-EYED, & YELLOW-THROATED VIREO
YELLOW-THROATED, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, N. PARULA, LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH,
PRAIRIE, & YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS 

No Thrushes, Green Herons, or passers by (except the yellow-rumps)
