A visit to my Mother at East Point, KY (on Johnson and Floyd Co. line
on KY Rt 1100) this past weekend produced some interesting birds:
Wood Duck 2
Kestrel
Blue Jay
Song Sparrow (many pairs)
Cardinal (many)
Robin (many pairs)
Wood thrush
Blue birds (6)
Chipping Sparrow
Goldfinch (many)
House Finch (4)
Purple Finch (3)
Carolina Wren (2)
Carolina Chickadee (6 or more)
Tufted Titmouse (4)
Eastern Phoebe (4)
Mourning Dove (6)
American Crow (10)
Pileated Woodpecker
Starling (only one!)
Downy Woodpecker
N. Mockingbird (2)
A bluebird pair and a chickadee pair contended for two days over a
blue bird box. It appears the blue birds won out. Robins, song
sparrows, blue birds, phoebes, and chickadees were all carrying
nesting materials.
