[birdky] kingfisher nest

As is the custom, the top soil from the new subdivision behind me was
stripped off before building began. They have had 40 foot tall piles
stretched about the perimeter and have slowly sold it off to other such
neighborhoods that were left with nothing but clay.
Anyway, I had noticed Belted Kingfishers flying over my house but had
never really thought much about it. I tend not to think much anyway. But
2 of them setting on a wire up the street caught my eye, and it occurred
to me that the wall of top soil behind our houses could be used for
nesting. And sure enough I found their hole in the wall. I don't have
much hope for them being successful. The removal has crept to within 30
foot of them. I don't guess there is anyone with the power or anyway the
dirt removal could be brought to a stop? I will have a hard time
watching it happen.
The duck population really fell off this week in Lexington. And I found
nothing new from last week when I had Savannah Sparrows and Green-winged
Teal
