Today at Marydale Retreat Center/Catholic Center there was a male and female
pair  Green-winged Teal ducks.  Even with the rain, they were incredibly
colorful.  There was also a male Hooded Merganser, Pied-billed Grebe,  and
plenty of tree swallows.

In Florence on a small pond/lake behind the Furniture Fair (next to Walmart)
there had been a loon reported yesterday.  I had checked that water late
last week and found nothing.  I checked today and the loon was still there.
I guess I do have a concern in that the body of water is small and
surrounded closely by a tall fence.  I know that loons need a pretty good
stretch of water to take off and I'm just wondering if there is enough water
and room with the fence for it to leave.   It was in breeding plumage and
actively feeding.  There was also a Great Blue Heron and pair of Canada
Geese (which appeared to be nesting).
