Lake Cumberland WMA
It was such a beautiful day I went for a short walk this morning before work. I 
chose the Lake Cumberland WMA at an area known locally as High Rock. OSPREY, 
RED-TAILED HAWK, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK and a pretty BROAD-WINGED HAWK soared 
above. NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER and LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH were 
singing along the creek. The ponds are dumped promptly on March 15, but beavers 
are doing their best to hold some water in. The little red caps of SWAMP 
SPARROWS popped up all over in the vegetation in the wet area and a couple of 
WILSON'S SNIPE flew out complaining as they made their escape. BLUE-GRAY 
GNATCATCHERS were out in force.

There were lots of wildflowers in bloom, one of my favorites birdfoot violet 
covered the rocky hillside on the way down to the area. Phlox and Virginia 
Bluebells etc. covered the bottoms. The aroma as I made my way along the creek 
was delicious!
