Yesterday I took two of my students at Millersburg Elementary (Bourbon
Co.) outside to pick up trash while trying to give them a lesson. Quite an
exciting morning for me.

Immature BW Hawk (passing low over the play ground headed north)
Chimney Swifts (about 8 circling high over the grounds and above the
                 hawk)
White-throated and Chipping Sparrows heard.

At one point one of my students said his favorite bird is "the big black
that goes in circles way up high!"

During my lunch hour I drove up to Lake Carnico in Nicholas Co ( 6 mi. NE
of Millersburg.

4 Purple Martins (3 in adult male plumage, 4 gourds are attached to a
                  telephone pole, all 4 landed and hung out there for the
                  5 minutes I was there.)
4 Lesser Scaup

Over the weekend I went to Mammath Cave NP.
Birds of interest heard in the tent camping at Houtchin's (sp) Ferry:

Barred Owl
Louisiana Waterthrush
Parula (heard in several places over the weekend)

Other birds of interest over the weekend

Blue-headed Vireo 1 heard singing at the Green River Ferry

other things of interest

Several Tiger Swallowtails, 3 Question Mark, Duskywing sp. (Juvenal's?) 4
Zebra Swallowtail.  Zigzag Lizard, Worm Snake.
