We have a feeder on our family room window that is filled only with sunflower 
seed. We have been enjoying the "debate" between a downy woodpecker and a 
female house finch just as to whose feeder this is.  Woody sits on one end and 
the finch sits facing him and they actually peck at each other's beaks. We have 
never had a woodpecker come to this feeder before.  Mourning doves also come 
and sit on top of it, peer through the window at us, and then try to get to the 
seeds.  And I thought doves were ground feeders.
