Society.  This update is current as of March 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM EDT.
The highlights of this update are:

 

A juvenile THAYER'S GULL seen on the 15th at Barkley Dam is the rarest
of mentioned birds this week. A lone dark phase SNOW GOOSE associating
with Canada Geese on a Lexington reservoir is also classify as unusual.
Otherwise, it is the return of summer residents that tops the list. 

 

Last week TREE SWALLOWS were noted all over the state. This week PURPLE
MARTINS were first noted in Logan County on the 14th, CLIFF SWALLOWS at
Barkley Dam also on the 14th, and a lone BARN SWALLOW was reported from
Hart County on the 18th.

 

VESPER SPARROWS were seen in Jefferson County on the 15th , and
HENSLOW'S SPARROWS made a show on the 17th in the same county. 

 

BLUE-HEADED VIREOS were mentioned from Mcreary County on the 13th, a
LOUSIANA WATERTHRUSH was heard in Calloway County on the 16th, and a
single PALM WARBLER was noted at Garrin Brown Preserve in Louisville. 

 

3 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER were observed on wood tract 3 of the Henderson
Sloughs on the 16th, and a GREAT EGRET was noted in Fulton County on the
18th. 

 

Lastly, BALD EAGLE young were noted on a nest on the levee in Fulton
County, and 2 OSPREY were seen on the nest on Eggner's Ferry Bridge over
the Kentucky Lake.
