I heard my first singing chipping sparrow Tuesday and saw my first barn swallow
this morning in Hart County.
Here's one that's new for me: today I was up on a bluff over the Green River
and a Cooper's hawk flew in and landed at eye level, affording me excellent
views.
This bird looked like a typical adult, except that it had white feathers
sticking out at all angles from the base of the tail. It looked like it was
wearing a tutu!
The white was very pronounced and showed clearly in the sides of the tail as it
flew. Is this a breeding plumage or just a really weird individual?
