I got to the Sloughs this evening as soon as I could after work.

3/16/06
4PM to 6 PM, Partly cloudy, calm, 64º

I covered 268 slough, Gentle Pond, Anderson's Pond, Pond Creek Marsh,  
Wood Tract, and Sauerheber Unit

Highlights:

Bald Eagle 2 adults south of the old nest. There is new larger nest  
to the north of the older one halfway to Anderson's Pond..
Another adult Bald Eagle was south of Hardy Slough.
Am. Golden Plover 3 at Wood Tract
Greater Yellowlegs 1 at Wood Tract
N. Harrier 1 adult Male near Pond Creek Marsh

very few ducks
Mallards
Shovelers (out number all other ducks)
Gadwalls
Green-winged Teal
Blue-winged Teal
Hooded Merganser 1 pair at 268 slough and another pair at the  
Shorebird Unit at Sauerheber

Barred Owls calling near 6PM

Winter Wren at dirt road to Pond Creek Marsh
Brown Creeper at Gentle Pond road
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at Gentle Pond road
Yellow-rumped warbler, many along Gentle Pond road
Fox Sparrow, Gentle Pond road
White-Crowned Sparrow, Gentle Pond road
White-throated Sparrow, Gentle Pond road

Non-avian
Muskrats all busy, a Muskrat love going on
