[birdky] grasshopper

When Rhonda and I were at Cumberland Falls last weekend we saw a large
grasshopper. It was one of those red-bellied woodland types that I am
familiar with from the Smokies area. I don't think I have seen one in
Kentucky before. I assume these things make it through the winter?
Anyone know the species name?
