Hello,
Yesterday, March 6th, I decided to bird the Ohio
River sandbars upstream from Grandview Indiana. There
was alot of waterfowl present. The highlight was a
singled female BLACK SCOTER. Other species present
include:
Greater Scaup
Lesser Scaup
Redhead
Canvasback
Common Goldeneye
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
While I was there, the ducks were scared up into the
air by a single adult BALD EAGLE that flew out over
the river form Indiana. The eagle flew across the
river, and when in was last seen it was in Kentucky.
The ducks were initially seen in Indiana, however,
when they were scared by the eagle they settled back
down further out in the river and I think they may
have been in Kentcky.
