The Eastern KY Bird Club will meet March 11 ? Waterfowl at Lewis County 
Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and South Shore WMA.  Time 10:00 a.m.  - Scott 
Freidhof, Leader.  Meet at the BP gas station on the AA Highway just west of KY 
59 intersection outside Vanceburg.  Delorme Atlas page 29, block E8.  

  Scott sent the following information:
   
  Waterfowl numbers are increasing on both areas.  During the last week of 
February, there were pintails, black ducks, mallards, wood ducks, hooded 
mergansers and teal present on the natural and manmade wetlands.  I hope 
waterfowl diversity improves even more by March 11.  The terrain is relatively 
flat or gently rolling along the Ohio River.  We will do a fair amount of 
walking across ag fields so wear boots that can get muddy.  Spotting scopes in 
addition to binoculars will allow us to see many of the birds without spooking 
them so bring your scopes.  Call or e-mail me with any questions.  Total 
birding time will be about 2 hours (10:30 - 12:30) once we start at the Lewis 
County WMA.  We will record all bird species that we observe on these areas to 
supplement the bird lists maintained by the Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife.
