The Annual Meeting of the Kentucky Bluebird Society will be on Saturday, April
23, 2005, at Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest, State Highway 245, Clermont,

Arboretum & Research Forest is located about 25 miles south of Louisville, KY,
on Highway 245 in Clermont, KY. Take I-65 to exit 112 and go east about one
mile. Call 502-955-8512 for additional information about Bernheim Arboretum &
Research Forest. $10 registration fee for adults, no fee for those age 16 and
under. For a detailed agenda please visit the KBS web site listed below.

Also please note that now is a good time to visit the below web sites for more
information on KY Bluebirds and Ospreys with direct links to Cornell University
to see live nesting KY birds and nesting birds on line from other states. The
Cornell nest cam web site is also listed below.

Todays Nesting Live Cam update: The Bluebird live cam nest at Heath
Elementary, Paducah, KY has a female Eastern Bluebird incubating five eggs. The
female Bluebird at Caldwell County Elementary, Princeton, KY layed her first
egg, so we should look for the second egg soon with an additional egg likely
each day until the clutch is complete. The Osprey pair at Lake Barkley are at
or near their nest almost all day. We hope to see the first Osprey egg within
the next week or so. This nest produced one Osprey chick last year. How many
will the nest produce this year? Last year's Lake Barkley Osprey Cam nest (a
different nest) produced three chicks that successfully fledged. Cornell
University staff are saving images from the cams and providing excellent
narration about these KY nests. To view saved images click on the archives
next to the live nest images. The Cornell nest cam site also has nesting birds
from other states: Barn Owls (eggs hatching) and an Elf Owl just started v
 isiting
 a new nest box.

If you observe an active Osprey nest other than at KY Lake or Lake Barkley,
please contact me. Also, if you observe a pair of Ospreys attempting to nest
that need a nesting platform anywhere in KY, I would appreciate knowing the
exact location. KEEP, Inc. may be able to help provide an Osprey nesting
platform due to a recently received grant from The International Osprey
Foundation to help KY nesting Ospreys.
