Don Manning and I were up yesterday birding in NW TN, with a little time spent 
around the top end of Reelfoot Lake in Fulton Co. The early moving shorebirds 
were much in evidence, with many Pectoral, and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, 
as well as Killdeer and Wilson's Snipe. The fields along the northeast edge of 
Long Point NWR are great for shorebirds right now, as one section near the 
highway had over 160 Pectorals feeding, along with many Legs and Snipe. One 
interesting sighting was a Snowy Egret just north of Long Point, in a field 
with a dozen Great Egrets. The Snowy should be a little on the early side I 
would think.

If anyone is interested, I've posted some photos of an encounter we had with a 
Barred Owl which had become entangled in monofilament. We ran a successful 
rescue operation, and had a pretty neat encounter with the Owl. When it was all 
said and done, us and the Owl each went our separate ways. I believe we all 
left the area feeling a little better after the encounter. The photos are in my
