Forwarding this to KY list to see if anyone else can help me.
I?m curious.
My family and I had to travel to Texarkana this weekend for a funeral and
while traveling I-40 between Memphis and Little Rock we saw many, many hawks
along the interstate in trees, on fences etc. They had to have been
migrating up and through for the number we saw. Also approximately ¼ of the
number we saw live, were dead on the side of the road. It was the number of
dead birds that really piqued my interest in wondering what species we were
seeing. Because I am not very good at id-ing raptors I was hoping someone
would have an idea for me?.they were smaller than redtails and that is about
all I have as we were ?birding? at 70+ mph.
Thank you for time
By the way?.we enjoyed the sunshine and the break from the bitter cold here
