Just took a stroll down though the yard to the strip of woodland
along the creek to check on wildfowers. None blooming yet but in bud. 
Flushed a Woodcock, twice. I didn't linger nor did I do a lot of
traipsing around.
I ran over one with the lawn mower one spring out by the highway.It
flushed off the nest with feathers flying. I was so distraught that
I would not go back and see if there there were eggs or hatchlings
in the nest. I won't make that mistake again.Joyce Porter Falls of
