[birdky] Re: Sandhill Cranes & KY Geography

For the record, most people in the Bowling Green area do not consider
themselves to be in Western Kentucky (Obviously WKU was named by Frankfort).
We are only about 30 miles west of Louisville and about 80 south. We think
of this as South Central Kentucky just as people in Somerset do. Western
Kentucky is over by Hopkinsville and points westward, except that the
purchase area is called by some, West Kentucky rather than Western Kentucky.
Therefore, Cranes migrate mainly through central Kentucky. In Logan County,
just west of Warren County, cranes are seen, but usually only in small
numbers. West of us, they are seldom seen in migration.
