I'm guessing that the owls are mating now and that this makes them relatively
incautious and vulnerable to collision with cars and trucks. Kinda like the
box turtles that cross the road in June. I' suspect that these are mostly
turtles that are looking for mates.

While traveling eastbound I64 through Louisville Monday morning is saw 2 road
killed Great Horned Owls approximately 1/4 mile apart 1/2 mile west of Cannons
Lane.
