Frank Lyne and I did a small amount of birding today.  The highlight of the
outing was the observation of the Barn Owl seen on the Olmstead CBC by Frank
and David Roemer (I missed the CBC this year).  This was the second "Logan
County" bird for me this month.  A Brown Thrasher was also observed at the
site.  In addition to the Barn Owl location, Frank and I visited a natural
pond in eastern Todd County were we observed a few Canada Geese, app 100
Mallards, and 2 American Coots.  We also stopped at a transient pond in
Logan County (near the owl site) and observed a few Mallards and 5 American
Black Ducks.
 
Frank had obligations, but I visited Mosley's Pond where a few more Canada
Geese were observed as were around 150 Mallards and small numbers of
Gadwall, American Black Duck, Green-winged Teal, and 20 Ringed-necked
Ducks..
 
Finally, I visited Guthrie Swamp in Todd County and observed additional
Canadas, 2 Hooded Mergansers, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, 2 Great Blue Herons, 4
Least Sandpipers, and 6 American Pipits.
 
That concludes this report.
